I finished the railing on the platform yesterday and put up a few braces as well. I am hoping to take some pictures tomorrow.
yesterday my mother in la came over and we were walking around the platform. She was talking about the hole in floor, as inspired from a gallows, as a window, interesting. Standing under the work in the bright sun with a cool breeze blowing there was definitely a feeling of protection. The square shape of the opening from underneath created a frame for the surrounding landscape, reminiscent of the way japanese architecture frames nature.
There is something about the slight elevation of the platform along with the minimal railing and see-through floor that is both exhilarating but painfully aware of how vulnerable you are. I am looking forward to finishing the it.
